Weather observations are often limited by area and may be less accurate for a small area such as a campus. Through IoT technology, we can set up digital weather stations to get a more accurate picture of campus weather. Students can use this real-time data to observe patterns of change and draw conclusions. At the same time, aggregating weather data from multiple campuses can reveal additional patterns. This project allows students to combine knowledge from multiple disciplines and experience the process of finding patterns in large amounts of data.
The core teaching point of "Campus Weather Station System" in Grade 8 of the New Curriculum:
Experiencing the Internet of Things (IoT): Through the creation of a digital weather station, students can experience the charm of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Understanding Sensors: Learning to use temperature and humidity, air pressure, wind speed and wind direction sensors to collect weather data and build a simple Internet of Things system.
Remote Control: Learn to send data on the IoT platform and control devices remotely.
Data Presentation: Receive sensor data and present it in line graphs to visually understand data changes.
Data analysis: Evaluate the weather conditions and discover the changing patterns by viewing the graphs and calculating the mean values.
Feedback control: create a gale warning system that automatically closes campus doors and windows when the wind speed is too high to ensure safety.
Through the study of "Campus Weather Station System", students can not only master the basic knowledge of Internet of Things technology, but also cultivate the practical ability and innovative spirit, laying a solid foundation for the future development of science and technology and the application of life.
