Commonly Used Instruments for Photovoltaic Power Plant Field Testing

PV power station test equipment is mainly divided into three categories: cell test equipment, PV cell module test equipment and PV system test equipment. These devices play an indispensable role in the operation and maintenance of PV power plants. Next, I will give you a detailed introduction to these three kinds of equipment.

1, cell test equipment

Cell test equipment is specifically used to assess the performance parameters of photovoltaic cells. They mainly measure key indicators such as photoelectric conversion efficiency, open circuit voltage and short circuit current. Common cell test equipment includes solar simulators and cell test benches. Solar simulators provide a standardised light environment for test samples by simulating solar radiation conditions, thus accurately measuring the performance parameters of PV cells.

2, PV cell module test equipment

PV cell module test equipment is a comprehensive system mainly used to comprehensively evaluate the performance of PV cell modules. These devices include electrical performance tester, weathering test equipment and optical performance test equipment. The electrical performance tester accurately evaluates the power generation efficiency of PV modules by measuring their current-voltage characteristic curve; the weathering test equipment simulates various environmental conditions to test the long-term stability and durability of PV modules; and the optical performance test equipment focuses on measuring optical performance parameters such as transmittance and reflectance of PV modules in order to comprehensively understand and optimise their performance.

3, Photovoltaic system test equipment

PV system test equipment is a key tool specifically designed to assess the operational performance of the entire PV plant. These devices include data collectors, meteorological monitors and inverter performance testers. The data collector can monitor the voltage, current and power parameters of each key part of the PV power plant in real time, ensure the accuracy and real-time data, and transmit these information to the monitoring centre to provide decision-making basis for the management personnel. Meteorological monitors are responsible for measuring light intensity, temperature, wind speed and other key meteorological data, providing real-time and accurate meteorological information for the operation of the PV plant and helping to optimise the plant's operation strategy. The inverter performance tester focuses on evaluating the efficiency, output waveform and other performance indicators of PV inverters to ensure stable operation and efficient conversion of inverters in PV power plants.
