The "Online Digital Weather Station" is a comprehensive learning programme that integrates knowledge from a number of subject areas, including mathematics, physics, geography and art. By setting up a digital weather station on campus, students can collect and analyse weather data in real time. The project aims to teach students the basic skills of weather observation while igniting their curiosity about natural geographic phenomena, thereby enhancing their knowledge and skills in the field of meteorological sciences.

Weather has a significant impact on people's daily lives and various productive activities, and weather forecasting is the traditional and primary way we obtain this information. However, for localised microclimates like school campuses, city-level weather forecasts may not provide sufficiently accurate meteorological data. Microclimates within a campus may vary due to factors such as surrounding buildings, vegetation, water bodies, etc., leading to a reduction in the applicability of standardised weather forecasts here.

By exploring the operations and data of a digital weather station, students will become familiar with the digital instruments used in weather monitoring and will be able to construct a basic version of a digital weather station on campus. The station will be used to collect key meteorological data in real time, including temperature, humidity, wind speed, and wind direction, helping students realise the benefits of digital technology in meteorological observations.

Using interdisciplinary knowledge and skills such as physics, mathematics and information technology, students can attempt to make weather forecasts based on the analysis of such data, which will not only help improve their ability to use digital devices, but also enhance their teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. Further, by setting up a digital weather service system on campus centred on IoT technology, students can monitor and record meteorological parameters, including UV intensity, in real time. This hands-on learning approach will increase students' interest in meteorology and promote their in-depth understanding of meteorological knowledge.
