The chemical industry occupies an important position in the national economy and is a basic and pillar industry in many countries. Its rate and scale of development have a direct impact on the socio-economic sector. However, the chemical industry has many categories and complex processes, resulting in the emission of many types, quantities and toxicity of pollutants from production, and is therefore also a major source of pollution.

Chemical products may produce toxic substances from processing to waste disposal, affecting the environment and human health. Therefore, it is of great significance for the chemical industry to follow the path of sustainable development for human economy and society.

Several explosions in Tianjin, Zhangjiakou, Ringshui, Yima and Yinchuan caused a large number of casualties and economic losses, while the accident at the Lishui chemical plant also brought serious economic losses. All these accidents were triggered by gas leakage or flammable and explosive chemicals, sounding the alarm for air environment monitoring in chemical parks.

Intelligent and automated production methods make industrial development more convenient. Industrial production requires real-time and accurate processing of large amounts of data to achieve intelligent monitoring and control. Sensors can sense and measure physical quantities, such as temperature and pressure, convert them into electrical signals and transmit them to control systems to monitor and control chemical processes.

Sensors can monitor the concentration of air pollutants and help in environmental protection. The growing demand for sensors in the chemical industry is driving the continuous development and advancement of sensor technology.

Combining intelligent sensing, big data and cloud computing technologies, we have set up atmospheric air quality monitoring stations in chemical parks to achieve all-round monitoring, analysis, early warning and emergency response.

The toxic and flammable gases in the chemical park have complex composition, low concentration and low threshold. The online real-time monitoring system builds a grid layout by combining points, lines and surfaces to monitor gases such as pm2.5, pm10, CO, NO2, SO2 and O3.

The monitoring equipment uploads data to the cloud platform through GPRS/4G technology. The cloud platform displays real-time wind speed, wind direction, temperature and humidity, and toxic gas concentration, and has an early warning function. Once the gas concentration exceeds the limit, the system will immediately notify the park administrator and locate the source of pollution to help deal with it quickly.
