On March 14, 1985, after the installation and commissioning of Beijing Capital Airport in accordance with international standards, China's first automatic meteorological observation system imported from Japan was officially opened to the public. By 2007, 61 civil airports across the country had installed automatic weather observation systems.

Meteorological observation system plays a very important role in the improvement of airport operation capacity, especially the reduction of airport visibility requirements under low visibility conditions (the visibility of Class I airport operating standard is reduced from no less than 800 meters to no less than 550 meters of runway visual range, Class II airport operating standard runway visual range is no less than 350 meters), so that flights can meet the take-off and landing standards. Has played an active role in serving air traffic control, reducing flight delays and airline losses.

Airport meteorological real-time monitoring system principle:

When the meteorological element value changes, the output of each sensor sensor sensor in the automatic weather station will change, the change amount is collected by the CPU real-time monitoring data collector, after linearization and quantification, the engineering quantity is converted into the element amount, and then the data is screened to obtain the meteorological element value and saved in a certain format in the collector.

In automatic weather stations equipped with computers, the values of meteorological elements are displayed in real time on the computer screen and stored in the computer hard disk in a specified format. The meteorological element values at the time of timing observation are also saved to the timing data file in the specified format. Various meteorological reports have been compiled and issued according to business requirements, and a variety of meteorological record reports and meteorological data files have been formed. By analyzing the running status data of the automatic station, the automatic station is monitored remotely.

Airport weather real-time monitoring system functions:
(1) Automatic collection and storage of atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, wind direction, wind speed, rainfall, evaporation, sunshine, radiation, ground temperature and other meteorological elements as a whole or locally.
(2) Realized communication networking and remote monitoring of operating status.
